RDA 101: Understanding Redevelopment Agencies

Join us for an introduction to the mission and tools of RDAs and the role they can play across the state. From revitalizing neighborhoods and fostering economic development to improving infrastructure and creating opportunities for all, learn how RDAs work in collaboration with stakeholders to address community priorities. This session will provide valuable insights into the transformative power of redevelopment and its role in strengthening communities.

Presenter Bio:
Danny Walz currently serves as the Director of the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City where he leads the Agency’s efforts to revitalize neighborhoods within the city.  Having spent over 15 years dedicated to redevelopment in Salt Lake City along with serving as the RDA Director for neighboring Midvale City for 13 years, Danny brings a wealth of experience to this critical role. Danny’s work experience encompasses a diverse mix of projects ranging from neighborhood business loans, property development, public art, infrastructure, affordable housing, and overseeing the redevelopment of two superfund sites.
In addition to his practical experience, Danny has developed a strong understanding of state-wide RDA legislation through his role as president of the Utah Redevelopment Association. This balance of hands-on work and legislative insight has shaped his thoughtful approach to redevelopment.
Danny earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Utah and lives in Salt Lake City’s Highland Park neighborhood with his wife and three kids
